Law & Order UK Season 6.1 - SURVIVOR'S GUILT

law and order season 6.1 bradley walsh ronnie brooks

UK PREMIERE January 6th 2012

"when it came time for Bamber to exit the series, the two episodes that involved his departure (Deal & Survivor's Guilt) were two of the show's best ever, with award-worthy work on a pair of scripts by head writer Emilia di Girolamo that weren't just great for the show but also respectful of the fans"
Starpulse

"It's a strong opening episode and lives up to lead writer Emila di Girolamo's desire to inject more emotion into the lead characters' lives, which is difficult given the tightly packed police/courtroom formula"
Crime Time Preview

"The drama has always been adept at economical storytelling and famously restrained with its emotional scenes. This however is surprisingly moving"
Sunday Times

"Gripping" "The scene where Ronnie reveals his emotions to his AA group is short and simple but one of the strongest the show has produced"
Daily Mirror

"A great start to the series"
Daily Mail

"Another beautifully scripted episode"
TV Times

"Adds up to a neat storyline"
Radio Times

"plenty of intellectual material to chew on. This episode is what Law & Order is good at: presenting us with what we think is simple, and showing us the real complexities." "Here is the greatness of LOUK and the original series as well: we're not just looking at crime and punishment, but issues and consequences. Anyone who says this series is just a crime story is sorely mistaken."

“people must watch this episode even if they’ve never watched the show before” Bradley Walsh in TV Easy

“this first episode is one of the best”
What’s on TV

“Judging by the opening episode, Broken, a hard-hitting story of a child’s murder, Law & Order: UK will be one of the channel’s highlights this autumn.
Broken is a powerful one that probes a divisive issue. If a child commits a serious crime, who is truly responsible – the child or those who have raised it? The tabloids bay for blood and the Director of Public Prosecutions says, “The public don’t care about treating killers.” Meanwhile, the director of Crown Prosecutors, George Castle (actor Bill Paterson), demands to know why a child would kill another – not usually a priority for the courts. With its careerist barristers, legal horse-trading and often ambiguous endings, Law & Order: UK is absorbing prime-time viewing.”
Criminal Acts, Robin Jarosi

Law & Order UK - Season 2.2 - Hidden

'During next week's first two episodes - both written by the über-talented Emilia Di Girolamo - Trina's (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) decaying body is found in the summerhouse by her son Jordan.' DIGITAL SPY

KRIS GREEN: Emilia Di Girolamo wrote two excellent episodes for Lucas, the ones when he was trying to prevent anyone from discovering Trina's body in the summerhouse...

DON GILET: "I just do the job and some things might not necessarily leap off the page
but with the intervention of directing you find you're playing it and you look back and think, 'Gosh - those are stunning episodes'. You're right, those episodes were excellent. Next time she's in I'm going to give her a nod and say, 'You're helping to make my character look great. Maybe she'll write something special for me when they finally get rid of me - I'll be her muse!" DIGITAL SPY

1000 Fine Lines - stage play

TIME OUT CRITICS CHOICE
Finalist Derek Lomas Playwriting Competition

'Not many plays balance wit and tragedy to such telling effect, whilst keeping the audience on the edge of their seats with chilling mystery. That's why Emilia di Girolamo's new play is such a treat. It is a testimony to the sheer quality of 1000 Fine Lines that the audience feel they are not watching so much as experiencing the intense, humorous and tragic world inhabited by the characters on stage...

...The script twists from laugh out loud wit, to chilling intrigue, to raw emotional
pain all the time holding the audience captive.'

CAMDEN NEW JOURNAL

'Like Gilman, di Girolamo is a crafty story teller...
...Psychological mystery tour.'
